A heavy duty four channel sequencer brings life to your lighted animation. Each channel can handle 150 watts. Eight sequences are built into this weatherproof unit including: combination, waves, sequential, slo-glo, chasing/flashing, slow fade, twinkle/flash and steady on. One button on the front of the unit changes the sequence that is running. Recycle the power to the unit and it remembers which sequence was last running. Its dimensions are 2-1/2″ wide, 3-3/4″ high and 1″ deep. Non-grounded unit with non-polarized female plugs. 120VAC, 60 HZ use only.

How Do Chase Controllers Work?

Chase controllers create effects across the channels of the controller and allow you to do all sorts of creative things with lighting. For example, a 4 channel chase controller will turn channel 1 on and then off when channel 2 comes on, channel off when channel 3 comes on, channel 3 off when channel 4 comes on, and then the sequence repeats. The same is true of 2 and 3 channel chase controllers. The speed of the chase between channels is controlled by a dial on the front of the controller. Our standard controllers have a slight overlap between the time the second channel turns on and when the previous channel turns off, this is call ‘cross talk’.

Build Up Controllers

A build up controller like our 2 channel build up controller will turn channel 1 on, then turn channel 2 on, then turn both channels off and repeat the sequence. The speed of the build up is controlled by a dial on the front of the controller.

Multifunction Controllers

Multifunction controllers like our 3 channel and 4 channel multifunction controllers contain 8 different effects that apply themselves across the channels. Effects include slow chase, fast chase, twinkle, shimmer, all on, slow glow, cross fade and all glow. There is no speed control dial on the multifunction controllers

Other Controllers

Our higher end controllers from PBS lighting do have additional functionality such as the Animator controller which is programmable to be a 2, 3 or 4 channel chase controller and does not have any ‘cross talk’ They can also be set to slower and faster chase speeds than the less expensive controllers, they can be connected to computer controlled light controllers such as those from Light-O-Rama and the Light-O-Rama effects will be passed through to the channels on the animator controller and they have a much lower average lifespan.

Can a Chase Controller Make My Standard Lights Chase Down the Strand?

NOTE: No. Chase controllers do not make bulbs on standard light strands chase down the strand. No controller can make standard lights chase down a strand. Rather, they apply the chase or other effects across channels.

Do These Controllers Work with LED Lights?

Yes, in most cases they will work fine. There are some older LED light sets that do have issues with light controllers of any kind and will not work with any light controller. But most newer, commercial and professional grade rectified, dimmable LED lights will work fine with light controllers.

Ordered 2 units. One was DOA. Christmas Light Emporium was amazing and easy to work with to get the unit replaced. These are replacing light sets that had the controllers built in. Love the ability to just buy lights and not worry about the controller. So far they have met my expectations.

They work very well. They have lasted through at least 5 Northern Wisconsin seasons. The only thing you have to watch out for is that they don’t have polarized sockets and some light sets have polarized plugs. So you have to use an adapter or grind the bigger plug.

Just received two a few days ago. Ran them all day with different loads and they seem to work very well and showed no signs of over heating although I did not try to push them up to their ratings. The only negative is the lack of polarized sockets on the outputs. Appears to be very well constructed. A speed control would be a nice addition. Bob

    Great service and quick shipping.

Great product but like said prior not a polarized plug. amp rating for 1.25 amps per channel does limit incandescent lights but great with LED.
Works great for arches as well.

Been ordering thru another light company. Found this to be price comparable but with several more features. I am very please and will be ordering more in the future.

I’ve been using this type of controller now for many years in various incarnations. Currently a dozen of these power 1600 mini lamps on a long hedge in my display. They work very well to provide movement in your display for a reasonable price. The units provide 8 selectable but fixed or sequential display patterns. No speed setting is provided for the display select. As is mentioned in other reviews the outlet receptacles provided on the controller are not polarized but the controller’s output receptacles do have polarity relative to each effect channel provided. This is very important if your lighting strings use any kind of common ground in their circuiting. Failure to verify this may cause you to damage your new controller. Unfortunately at this price the controllers are not internally short circuit protected so it is a very good idea to verify polarity and try and keep the receptacles in the dry as much as possible.
If your light string has a polarized plug you have to modify it to be able to plug it into the un-polarized receptacles on the controller.
The controller is rated for outdoor use and these units are potted (sealed) for water resistance with a fairly good gasket on the display function push button switch. Earlier models had a habit of leaking through the display switch and compromising the electronics within. Condensation hasn’t been a problem with these newer units unless the plastic casing becomes cracked. So it’s a good idea to inspect the case closely before putting the unit in service. I continue to recommend these controllers if you want lighting with movement and like to arrange your own light strings during the holidays.

I will be buying this again. Works great with the C7 and mm5 led light strings I purchased.
